I am looking into getting either ducks or sheep. My mom took my BC to a herding trainer for an evaluation last Thursday, and she did surprisingly well. Her downfall right now is that she isn't very confident about pushing the sheep that the trainer had her on. Would it be better to work her on ducks or should I stick with getting some sheep for her to herd? What breed of sheep and/or ducks does everyone else have?
Thanks for any reply!!!

Hello,
I know nothing about the science of herding. I would have thought having seen her the trainer would be best placed to advise which would be the best route to follow so it might be worth asking him/her.
All the best

Hi, Just wondering if there are lots of dog trainers in herding in the UK that i could take my collie to for assessment - where did you find the one you took yours to please?
I'm a total newbie to all things collie so can't offer any advice (yet!) but hope you're successful with your ducks/sheep choice!
